Day 686: Brusho Clown.

I’ve started practicing some of my drawing skills today for over the next couple of weeks and with that comes experimenting and reminding myself how some of my materials work. I’ve never really used my brusho powders to make my own inks or paints so today I decided to give it a go and tried to make a clown.

What do you think? Do you have any Brusho? What’s your favourite technique for using Brusho? Let me know in the comments.

Materials:

  • Sketch pencil.
  • Black Brusho.
  • Purple Brusho.
  • White Uniball Signo pen.
  • Size 6 paintbrush.
  • Papermill Mixed Media Paper.
  • Paint pallet.

Method:

  • Use the sketch pencil (which ever you are comfortable with) to sketch out the outline of the clown.
  • Tap some purple Brusho into the pallet mix some water in with the Brusho.
  • Using the paint brush lift the Brusho and fill spaces of the dress, choker and top hat with colour.
  • Add more Brusho and reapply occasionally to make layers of colour.
  • Sprinkle some black Brusho onto the pallet and add a couple of drops of water.
  • Colour in the arms, face, and hair of the clown.
  • Leave to dry.
  • Use the White Signo pen to draw the band around the hat rim and to add some frills to the clown dress.
  • Place one of the models down on the bead tray.
  • Respray the layer and place a second layer on top.
  • Leave for 15 minuets.
  • Respray the top layer and add the third bead layer to the pile.
  • Place the ivory flower down on the tray. Respray the flower and place the crystal beads.
  • Spray the crystal beads.
  • Leave to completely dry.
  • Place the cake on its side and spray the top.
  • Add the Cake decoration to the top of the cake.
  • Leave to dry thoroughly.
