Day 671: Inky Sea Collage.

This piece is an experiment with the Bic Intensity fine liner pens I bought from Tesco. This pack comes with 8 pens from the range of 20 colours. The nib on these pens is a 0.4mm nib so you get a very fine line when drawing with these pens. The pen barrel is very thin and long but light weight to use. The barrel is a round barrel which I struggle to use for long periods of time due to my tripod grip.

The ink in these pens is as the name suggests is intense and vibrant. I love the shades as they stand out and pop against the white of the paper. The ink also dries very quickly which is brilliant if you are drawing at speed or use your left handed to draw with as they don’t smudge and ruin your art work.

Materials:

  • Bic Intensity
    • Light Blue.
    • Dark Blue.
    • Light Green.
    • Dark Green.
    • Purple.
    • Black.
    • Pink.
    • Orange.
  • Papermill Mixed Media Paper.

Method:

  • Sketch various shapes across the page base these shapes of coral and seaweed overlapping each other. If you want to make your black outlines to stand out more use a thicker pen nib.
  • Pick a section and fill in with patterns cross thatching, stripes of different sizes.
  • Occasionally fill the smaller sections with full colours.
  • By cross thatching the colours in different shades you will get different textures and effects.
